Willowbanks

who we support

Our provision is designed for young people who may benefit from an alternative approach to engagement, learning and personal development. We work collaboratively with referring organisations to understand each young person’s circumstances, strengths, needs and aspirations, ensuring that any proposed programme is appropriate and purposeful.

Our approach is centred on building positive relationships, promoting wellbeing and creating opportunities for young people to develop the skills and confidence needed for their next steps.

our admission process

1. Initial Enquiry

Complete our referral form or contact our team to discuss the young person’s needs and the support you are looking for. We will provide information about our services and answer any initial questions.

2. Referral and Information Gathering

Where a referral is appropriate, we will request relevant information from the referring organisation. This may include the young person’s educational background, identified needs, intended outcomes, safeguarding information, risk assessments and any relevant SEND documentation.

3. Suitability Assessment

Our team will review the information provided and consider whether we can safely and appropriately meet the young person’s needs. Where appropriate, we may arrange a meeting with the young person, their parent or carer, and the referring professionals to help inform the assessment.

4. Programme Planning and Agreement

If our provision is considered suitable, we will work with the referring or commissioning organisation to agree the proposed programme, intended outcomes, attendance arrangements, safeguarding responsibilities and any necessary support or reasonable adjustments.

5. Starting the Programme

Once the relevant agreements and arrangements are in place, we will support the young person through a planned introduction to the provision, helping them feel informed, welcomed and ready to begin.

admissions statement

We are committed to providing a fair, transparent and needs-led referral process. Every referral is considered individually, taking into account the young person’s needs, safety, wellbeing and the suitability of our provision.

Acceptance of a referral is subject to a suitability assessment, available capacity, appropriate staffing and resources, and agreement of the proposed programme and commissioning arrangements. We will consider relevant safeguarding information, risk assessments, special educational needs and disabilities, and any reasonable adjustments required in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Submitting a referral does not guarantee a placement. Where we are unable to offer suitable provision, we will communicate our decision clearly to the referring organisation.

As an alternative provision engagement provider, we work in partnership with schools, local authorities and other commissioning bodies. Responsibility for securing and overseeing a young person’s suitable education remains with the relevant school or local authority, in accordance with applicable statutory duties.
